Recognized at Recognition Night 2015

Saturday, March 7th, was the date. Maggiano’s Little Italy was the place. Twenty-five people were in attendance. The evening started with appetizers and a slide show of 2014 section activities.

Following dinner, each new 50- and 60-year ACS member received a certificate from the ACS. There was one new 60-year ACS member, Avrom Ringel Handleman, and four new 50-year members: Derek Redmore, John Rapko, Ben Outlaw, and Esther Plowman.

Pegah Jalili presents the 2015 Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Myron C. Reese.

The 2015 Distinguished Service Award from the St Louis Section–ACS was presented to Dr Myron C Reese for his long service as coordinator of the High School Chemistry Contest and High School Chemistry Awards.

The winner of Chemical Science & Technology Award was announced and received a plaque and $500 honorarium. A full report on the awardee can be seen here.

The evening was capped off with the traditional presentation by the immediate past chair, Dr James O’Brien, who spoke on Spectroscopy of cold molecules and hot radicals.
