Announcing the 2023 High School Chemistry Teacher of Year: Bethanie Karfs!
We would like to congratulate Bethanie Karfs of Parkway Central High School for being awarded the American Chemical Society: St. Louis Section High School Teaching Award.
With over 16 years of experience providing educational guidance and mentorship to her students, Mrs. Karfs teaches A.P. and Honors Chemistry. She comes to teaching from a background as an engineer working in the automotive industry, and applies that background in her classroom. She believes her role is to provide students the opportunity to do hard things through the content of chemistry and to pair that opportunity with support, resources, and genuine interest in their well-being and their development as individuals.
Mrs. Karfs is also the Science Department leader in her building and coach of the girls’ lacrosse team.
