Our Undergraduate Research Symposium used to be a big event in spring. But often, it was tough to find a time that didn’t conflict with spring break, various ACS meetings, graduation, etc.; we’ve moved it to winter-ish: that is, just before semester break. Last year, a first for the new schedule, 16 presenters shared work from 12 projects. Institutions represented included Greenville College, Maryville University, Webster University, Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville, Saint Louis University, and the University of Missouri–St Louis. It worked out well last year, so get in on the important event this year.

Applications are now being accepted. The 2017 ACS–St Louis Section Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held Friday, December 8th, from 2:30-5:00 pm in the Science Laboratory West building at Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville. All undergraduate students participating in chemistry research are encouraged to present a poster. Student chapters and chemistry clubs are also invited to bring a poster about their activities. ACS membership is not required.

The application form is available at the STLACS website. Applications will be accepted through November 30th. Requests or questions can be sent to the organizer, Susan Wiediger, swiedig@siue.edu.
